The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum has partnered with Adventures by the Book for a Chinese Tea Tasting Adventure with the sensational New York Times bestselling author, Lisa See. Over appetizers and a tasting of traditional Chinese teas, Lisa See will tell us about how she crafted her latest novel and was inspired to interweave the classical culture of tea into the heart of her novel and her characters’ destinies. Includes a hardcover copy of the book, appetizers, tea tasting, donation to The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, author talk, book signing, and the chance to meet the author.

Learn why many millions of people in the West (including more than 3 million in the U.S.) practice this ancient Taoist healing art. In this dynamic lecture, renowned qigong master Ken Cohen will introduce the healing philosophy of qigong and its connection to the Taoist quest for harmony with nature. By following postural and movement guidelines set by ancient people, we awaken an ancient part of ourselves. We find the spirit of the bear, the tiger, the deer within, and, like them, learn how to sense what nourishes us. Explore cutting edge scientific research that validates qigong’s healing benefits and explains how and why it works. The 60 minute lecture will be followed by a reception and book-signing.

Join the Museum for a midday screening of the award-winning documentary short film, "Finding Cleveland." This documentary follows Charles Chiu and his family on an emotional journey as they take a trip to Cleveland, Mississippi to visit the grave site of Charles’ father, KC Lou. In less than 48 hours, Charles has many surprising encounters with the local townspeople, who help fill in some of the blanks about the father he never knew.
