Chinese Brush Painting for Children

  SDCHM is offering a series of three Chinese Brush Painting classes taught by Instructor Sylvia Hwa. Students will make ink from an ink stick using the ancient Chinese technique of grinding the ink stick on an ink stone until smooth, black ink is make. Using ink on rice paper, students will learn how to paint flowers, trees, natures scenes and a variety of animals. Each student will create a portfolio of their work to take home. The SDCHM invites any and all interested in learning Mandarin to join our weekly Mandarin Meetup. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Saturday, attendees will develop with listening, speaking and conversing skills needed to thrive in a Chinese-speaking community. These one-hour learning sessions are geared toward beginners, and will teach the basics, such as getting to know others, ordering food and checking in to a hotel.
