Many birds and flowers are auspicious symbols in Chinese culture due to legends or homophones; but what are they? In this lecture, Lily Birmingham (San Diego Museum of Art Asian Arts Council Chair, San Diego Chinese Historical Museum Board of Directors Treasurer) will explore iconic bird-and-flower paintings throughout centuries of Chinese art history and find out precisely why.
