The 35th Annual San Diego Chinese New Year Fair

February 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Family Fun at the San Diego Chinese New Year Fair!

Bring the entire family including the little ones to the 35th Annual San Diego Chinese New Year Fair and experience unforgettable family fun at SDCHM! For the first time ever, the Museum will present special guest from the San Diego Zoo, Bamboo Panda, who will join us in the Museum Garden Saturday ONLY! Bamboo Panda, San Diego Zoo’s baby panda mascot, will meet and greet kids in the garden from 1:00pm-1:30pm. The fun will not end there–right after Bamboo Panda’s visit, we will tell the story of the Year of the Rooster by Oliver Chin, an award-winning children’s book series.

Also enjoy traditional and cultural entertainment all day long on both days including Lion Dancers, kung fu, traditional instruments, classic Chinese dances, and so much more!

Make sure to stop by the Museum for our special exhibition “Radical Machines: Chinese in the Information Age” at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Extension building to find out how you can type a language with no alphabet and to learn about the evolution of the Chinese typewriter!
