Mother’s day 2019: Chinese Tea Ceremony
May 11 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm$10.00
Tea is an indispensable part of Chinese life. One Chinese saying identifies the seven basic daily necessities as fuel, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce vinegar and tea.
In celebration of Mother’s Day 2019, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum invites local families to join us, as our Education Department leads a round of tea ceremonies to show appreciation and respect for the mothers of our community.
Starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Chuang Garden at 404 Third Avenue in downtown San Diego, Siyun Liang, SDCHM Education Administrator will lead a series of family-oriented demonstrations, through which children and youth will learn to make oolong, black, green and herbal teas to share with mom. These individualized tea ceremonies will take place every half-hour between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, in the courtyard of the garden at our Mission facility.
Please join us in the soothing environment of the Chuang garden on May 11, to brew and sip tea in honor of mom. Tea leaves, pots, hot water and cups will be provided by the Museum. The event is open to Museum members free of charge; there will be a $10 fee (which includes Museum admission and also covers tea ceremony materials costs) for members of the general public who wish to join us on that day.
