The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is opening the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Extension Building at 328 J St to a special event presented by the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House.

On Wednesday, August 8 at 7 p.m. attendees can enjoy a lecture as part of the History Talks! series called The Gaslamp Quarter: It Wasn’t Always This Way, presented by Michael Stepner, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the New School of Architecture and Design.

He will discuss the vision, tools, resources and people that made the Gaslamp Quarter, and the modern history that made it the destination it is today. He will also explore how the policies and approaches that were used in the making of the Gaslamp Quarter have had an impact around San Diego and around the country.
