A Noodle Cook-off Featuring Guest Judge Mike Chen

About Event
The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum (SDCHM) is excited to
announce that they will be teaming up with local chefs to host their first-ever noodle competition
featuring guest judge and YouTube sensation Mike Chen of Strictly Dumpling. Millions of food
enthusiasts follow his global adventures and mouthwatering reviews that will lead him to
downtown San Diego on June 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum’s event space.

Each chef will create a noodle dish to impress the guest judge with one challenge: the control
ingredient is a package of 99-cent ramen noodles. The creativity behind the technique, flavors,
added ingredients, presentation and spice level will determine the winner. Event-goers can judge
each bespoke creation for themselves, as they’ll get to sample each noodle dish, along with other
appetizers and small bites. While the chefs customize and garnish their dishes, guests can enjoy
beer provided by local Duck Foot Brewing Company.

Chefs
A few participating San Diego chefs include:

  • Chef Marcus Twilegar of Parq
  • Chef Tress Balch of Happy Sushi
  • Chef Ethan Yang of Zen Modern Asian Bistro
  • Chef Jeff Roberto of Sushi on a Roll

The museum will be filled with San Diego food aficionados, Mike Chen’s followers, museum
patrons and members of all ages. Attendees will have the chance to meet and greet Mike Chen,
experience a food competition and explore the museum’s exhibitions.
