Watercolor Paintings by Dan-Fong Liang
July, 1998

The artist, Dan-Fong Liang, spoke extensively about her paintings, her philosophy, and shared thoughts from her travel experiences. She then gave a demonstration by painting two Chinese paintings for the audience. Afterwards a drawing was held, with the paintings as the prizes. The reception was a joyous event, which included talks and pictures with the artist. The audience was quite receptive, with many questions for Dan-Fong Liang, in which further explanations of her paintings were given. The San Diego Chinese Art Society co-sponsered the exhibit.

Artist's Bio
Dan-Fong Liang's vibrant watercolors illustrate the landscape of her travels and her passion for flowers. Although she has been formally trained in Chinese brush painting, she has delved into western art styles as well. This exhibit will represent works from both traditions. Ms. Liang has traveled extensively throughout the world, from the North Pole to the Middle East, in order to acquire experience and glean inspiration for her works. Although she has had numerous shows, the majority of which have been solo, this is her first exhibit in the United States. Ms. Liang also utilizes her travels as inspiration for her prolific writing. She has written over thirty books, one of which was inspired by her eight sojourns on the ancient Silk Road in China. Ms. Liang has been the recipient of numerous awards for both her paintings and her literature. Born in Nanking China, Ms. Liang now lives and teaches painting in Taiwan.
